It's the Altitude

Hi everyone.

I am now in Colorado Springs attending Focus on the Family's Focus Institute. If you would like more info about FFI, click on the link at the top right hand side of this page.

For the summer program, I will be taking two classes: one is on Christian worldviews, philosophy, and sociology, to be taught by Dr. Leland and Dr. Tackett; and the other is marriage and family studies, taught by Mrs. DeWitt and Mr. and Mrs. Bottomly.

Since we are in Colorado, we are also going to be doing a lot of outdoor activities such as hiking, mountain climbing, white water rafting, and other things.

All of the 77 participants are either college students or college grads from all over the United States. Unlike APU, there are only five students who attend college in California (there is another APU student, Josh W.), and most of the students come frm the South. This accounts for a lot of y'alls.

The attribution to the "It's the Altitude" has to do with the fact that we are 6000+ feet above sea level and newcomers tend to be afflicted with altitude sickness. Because of this, we are encouraged to drink lots of water at all times. The phrase, "It's the altitude," is often used by staff members as a catch-all phrase, similar to, "The dog ate my homework."
